HANDS OFF VENEZUELA!

Acting like the worst kind of fascists, the U.S. military has invaded Venezuela and abducted its democratically elected president, Nicolás Maduro. All the talk about “international law” collapses the moment the world’s biggest thieves—American imperialism—lose control of oil and can no longer run governments as obedient puppets.

This is the true face of the so-called “civilized” West. The kidnapping of Maduro drags humanity back to the age of colonialism, when U.S. imperialism slaughtered peoples across the globe. Its goal has always been the same: to impose client regimes that allow American corporations to freely plunder the wealth of dependent and formerly colonized countries.

In Venezuela’s case, the United States lost a key ally in the region 27 years ago—largely because of Venezuela’s massive oil reserves. With the victory of the Bolivarian Revolution and the leadership of Hugo Chávez, the U.S. lost its grip on the country, especially after the nationalization of the oil industry. This is something Washington has never forgiven. For the U.S. ruling class, “national sovereignty” is nothing more than an empty slogan.

Through the coup it is attempting today, the U.S. wants to replace Maduro with a pro-American opposition financed with millions of CIA dollars. Recently, the so-called “Nobel Peace Prize” was awarded to opposition leader María Corina Machado—someone who openly called for foreign military intervention to overthrow the Venezuelan government. Even so, these plans have so far failed.

Trump is not a “peacemaker,” no matter how hard he pretends. He is dangerous. He represents the real face of terrorism. Enough with U.S. imperialist wars. Enough with the domination and humiliation of peoples around the world.

If we want war to end, Western imperialism and its allies must be defeated on every front. We must resist the wars of the United States everywhere. New “Vietnams” must be created—places where imperialist aggression is stopped by popular resistance.

In Greece, the Mitsotakis government is fully complicit. It was among the first to recognize Juan Guaidó’s failed coup in 2019. It has turned the country into a forward base for U.S. military plans and obediently follows Washington’s orders. A real anti-war movement will sweep away this government of submission, violence, and terror. Only then will working people—like the farmers currently mobilizing across the country—be able to breathe.
