Defeat to the Zionists and U.S. Imperialism (Statement of OKDE)

DEFEAT TO ZIONIST ISRAEL AND U.S. IMPERIALISM
IN THEIR WAR AGAINST IRAN
Only the struggles of workers and youth can stop the catastrophic path toward a Third World War
The terrorist state of Israel, through its aggression against Iran, brings humanity one step closer to total war—closer to a Third World War. The fascist Zionists believe the time has come to enforce their blood-soaked vision of a “Greater Israel.” Emboldened by their recent “successes” (genocide of Palestinians, attacks on Lebanon and Syria), and backed with murderous enthusiasm by the Western imperialists—the U.S. and E.U.—they now openly aim at the full destruction and subjugation of the peoples of the Middle East.
Israel’s attack on Iran is fully coordinated with U.S. imperialism. The empty promises of the supposed “peacemaker” Trump have utterly collapsed—starting with the genocide of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip. The war in Ukraine continues with dangerously escalating possibilities—especially as the U.S.-E.U.-NATO axis, in a position of increasing weakness, constantly tests Russia’s limits (through aggression in the Baltics, attacks on Russian territory, etc.). From the crisis, the failures, and the dead-ends of U.S. imperialism, and its growing difficulty in defending global hegemony, what emerges is not “peace” or “multipolar balance,” but the chaos of an unrestrained arms race and the proliferation of war fronts.
Iran is now a critically important front—a key adversary of both Zionist Israel and U.S. imperialism, with strategic relevance far beyond the Middle East. Iran’s deepening political, economic, and military ties with imperialist powers Russia and China—its participation in BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, its role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative—represent a strategic alliance. For the U.S., bringing Iran to heel—or at least neutralizing its capabilities—is a necessary step before turning full focus toward confronting China in the Asia-Pacific. This is evident in the U.S.’s growing military buildup in the region, threats of direct intervention, and Trump’s ultimatums for “unconditional surrender.” At the same time, the Zionist regime needs to escalate and generalize the conflict with Iran, precisely because it faces far greater internal and regional difficulties than it admits—or than the Western imperialist media would have us believe. The imperialist hyenas of “Old Europe,” with their own declining influence, continue to cling to the same script—defending Israel’s so-called “right to self-defense,” even as their hands drip with the blood of Palestinians.
As the objectives of the U.S.-Israel war on Iran edge closer to the point of no return (regime change, possible dismemberment of the country, full alignment with U.S. interests, cutting ties with China and Russia), the threat of a Third World War becomes increasingly real. The fantasy of a swift or total victory over Iran is more Zionist delusion than concrete possibility. Despite their brutality and temporary advances, the Zionists are actually weaker than they appear—they have failed to eliminate the Palestinian resistance, Hezbollah, and others. And they now face a vast, populous, and militarily capable country like Iran, potentially backed by strategic allies Russia and China, and able to strike painful blows in return.
The Mitsotakis government has emerged as one of the most zealous supporters and accomplices of the Zionist-U.S. war machine. The Greek bourgeoisie, after backing the semi-fascist regime in Kyiv, is now openly participating—on the front lines—in the war effort of U.S.-Israel in the Middle East. Greece has been turned into an operational base, offering military training, weaponry, and bases (like Souda), alongside the most vile political and moral support and dissemination of imperialist propaganda. At the UN Security Council, the Mitsotakis government even supported, along with the U.S. and France, Israel’s supposed “right to preemptively attack” Iran!
This alignment is a historic disgrace and a profound danger for the Greek people. It drags the country into a massive geopolitical conflict while fueling economic bleeding and social devastation (massive arms spending at the expense of every social need). The overthrow of this government—through unified, escalating struggles and the strategic perspective of a Political General Strike—is our most urgent task: to help build a powerful anti-war, anti-imperialist movement, to stop the genocide in Palestine and the spread of war across the Middle East.
Only the class struggle of workers and youth—only the political mobilization of the working class—can stop the spread and generalization of war, and prevent the nightmare of nuclear annihilation. This task is all the more urgent inside Europe and the E.U., where imperialist regimes are rapidly sliding into authoritarianism (criminalizing or banning solidarity with Palestine), militarism (the ReArm Europe doctrine), and efforts to escalate the Ukraine front toward total destruction rather than admit defeat. These same regimes wage open class war on workers, the poor, and the youth. The workers’, youth, and anti-war movement—every militant, every conscious worker or young person—must show ZERO TOLERANCE for the reactionary propaganda of the Western imperialists: whether it comes in the form of “regime change in Iran,” demonization of “theocratic mullahs,” or Israel’s “right to self-defense” or “preemptive attack.” Nor should we accept the utter hypocrisy of nuclear powers like the U.S., Israel, Britain, and France criticizing Iran’s nuclear program.
We must struggle for the defeat of this Zionist-U.S.-NATO-E.U. campaign against Iran. This is the only consistent continuation of the fight against the genocide in Palestine.
Any ambiguity or retreat on these issues—where much of the European Left has faltered—only reflects a lack of revolutionary direction, strategic paralysis, and surrender to Western imperialism. We must struggle for the defeat of “our own” imperialist front , and turn every imperialist setback into a spark for class struggle. After the recent global mobilizations in solidarity with Palestine, the protests against the NATO Summit in The Hague (24–25 June) must be a major turning point.
