Stop the persecution of the workers’ movement!

On Monday, September 23, we call for a protest in front of the Argentine embassy in Athens (59 Vasilissis Sofias Avenue – at 12:00) as a sign of solidarity with the dozens of social organizations, the militants of the revolutionary left and the workers’ movement (among them the Partido Obrero militants) who are being prosecuted on unsubstantiated charges by the ultra right government of Javier Milei.

The persecutions began on the occasion of the massive participation of social and political organizations on December 20 against the fierce anti-labor measures of the government, proceeding to unprecedented, for the last 30 years, repressive measures with dozens of raids on self-organized social spaces, collective kitchens, mass wiretapping, dozens of prosecutions and court cases.

These persecutions are part of the overall effort to intimidate the labor movement and the poor popular strata that accompany the extreme anti-worker neoliberal measures of the Milei government. Along with selling off the gains and rights of the working class for the benefit of the IMF and capitalists, the Milei government is furiously attacking democratic rights and freedoms in order to suppress dissent and restrict the right to strike and demonstrate.

As in Argentina and Greece, workers and the poor are facing a historic setback. Health, education, social security, social services are being sold off and dismantled while being turned into luxury goods. Democratic freedoms, the right to strike and demonstrate are threatened daily by a monstrous state of emergency, by repression and police rule, by participation in the warmongering plans of the EU-US imperialists.

We stand in solidarity with our Argentine comrades in their struggle against impoverishment, high prices, repression, the transformation of their country into a debt colony, a useful pawn in the war plans of US imperialism in the region of Latin America and not only (Argentina applied to join NATO!!).

Armed with internationalist solidarity and common class struggles in Greece and Argentina, we must fight for workers rights against the war declared on us by governments and capitalists.

  • Immediately stop the prosecution of all comrades in Argentina who are being prosecuted on false and unsubstantiated charges
  • Hands off the militants and self-organizing structures of the movement who struggle against poverty and misery produced by capitalism
  • Solidarity with the struggles of the working class, militants and organizations of the Revolutionary Left in Argentina
